organ tour 2012
Dates: 16th to 21 April 2012
Join this magnificent organ tour to several
beautiful historical organs in the Southern provinces of the
Netherlands, Brabant and Limburg. In this area, close to the Belgian and
German borders, several foreign organ-builders have worked and we can
find many well-preserved and restored instruments from the 17th to the
19th century. The organs are demonstrated and played by well-known
professional organists and tour participants can play if they wish.
Including 5 nights with breakfast in an excellent hotel in Eindhoven and
all the transport in Holland with two comfortable coaches.
Itinerary in a nutshell:
| Monday:
After arrival on Schiphol airport or train station, the coach
brings us to our hotel in Eindhoven. After check-in we enjoy a
nice 3 course diner. |

Helmond |
| Tuesday:
After breakfast we leave for Bergen op Zoom with a recently
restored organ from the German organbuilder Ibach, a perfect
example of German romantic organbuilding. In the afternoon we
visit the massiv Flentrop organ in the Great Church of Breda,
build in 1966 with pipes from the 17th to the 20th century from
the former organs. In
Breda we visit the city-center for diner. |

Bergen op Zoom |
| Wednesday:
On this day we stay in the Eindhoven
area for the fine organ from the most famous organbuilder from
19th century Brabant, F.C. Smits, in the church of Aarle-Rixtel.
In the afternoon we go to Helmond. Here we find a famous organ
of the Belgian builder Robustelly, original for a monastery in
Averbode and in 1822 placed in Helmond. An organ perfect for
French baroque music. |

| Thursday:
This day is dedicated to the organ
treasuries of Maastricht. In the St. Servaas church the organ
was build by several famous builders who added all their part of
to instrument but the organ was rebuild by Verschueren in 1985
to his former glory. In the St. Matthias church we find a fine
example of Belgian organbuilding in the instrument of Binvignat
of 1808. After the organ visits we enjoy the pitoresque
city-center of Maastricht. |

| Friday:
This last day we
go to the old city of Den Bosch. In the Reformed church the Bätz
brothers build an organ in 1831, perfectly preserved. The organ
in the St. Catrien church was build by the organ builder
Vollebregt, one of the leading companies in Brabant during the
19th century. In the last evening of this tour a visit to the
city-center of Den Bosch is a must for diner. |

| Saturday:
After breakfast the coach brings us to the airport or train
station for the journey home, ending a stimulating week in wich
we will have see, hear and played some of the most beautiful and
famous organs that Holland has to offer. |

Breda |
Group members going on this tour will be
required to make their own way to Holland, where they will be met at and
returned to Schiphol Amsterdam airport that have also a major
train-station with regular train services to other places like ferry
ports. All travel within Holland will be by coach and is included.

• Visits to all the organs, demonstrations and recitals etc.
• Illustrated booklet of all the organs visited.

• Travelling to and from the UK to Holland (airport or ferry port).
